Inside, original period furnishings, paintings, trinkets and knick-knacks, everything is very British. A black-and-white cat sneaks into the dining room, under the table set with the finest pottery and crystal; we are in a museum but the impression is of a house that lives a life of its own. A majestic specimen of sandbox tree, with its trunk covered with large thorns, which we are told is four hundred years old, makes a fine display in the inner courtyard, from which one enters the flower and herb garden. English garden, of course. Not at all, <\/span><\/span> here the flower beds are arranged according to a definite symmetry, and this would really be called an Italian garden.\r\n\r\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-250\" class=\"wp-image-250 size-full\" title=\"St. Nicholas Abbey Barbados\" src=\"https:\/\/www.barbadosinfo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/St.-Nicholas-Abbey3-Barbados.jpg\" alt=\"St. Nicholas Abbey Barbados\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbadosinfo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/St.-Nicholas-Abbey3-Barbados.jpg 640w, https:\/\/barbadosinfo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/St.-Nicholas-Abbey3-Barbados-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/barbadosinfo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/St.-Nicholas-Abbey3-Barbados-526x350.jpg 526w, https:\/\/barbadosinfo.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/St.-Nicholas-Abbey3-Barbados-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/>
St. Nicholas Abbey Barbados | Photo by P.L.
